Practice standards

royalty athletix practice standards

Make-up / Late practices
If missed practices are deemed unexcused, the athlete will need to “make it up.” Athletes on youth and up teams will be required to make up their unexcused practices by volunteering at a tiny-prep or mini practice.
Note: One missed practice will require one volunteering practice by the athlete. Two missed practices will require volunteering twice and so on.
Being late to practice will not be accepted. Please let your coach know in advance if you are going to be late. If your coach deems your reason for being late as not acceptable, punishment will result in conditioning for each minute late to practice at the discretion of the coach.

Practice Expectations
Royalty Athletix athletes are expected to attend all competitions as a team. We realize many athletes are involved in a variety of activities, however; we cannot make exceptions for schedule conflicts unless a school conflict presents itself. We practice 2-6 hours during the week and approximately 2 hours on the weekend when needed. We expect top priority and 100% commitment and attendance.
Practice clothes required: Full length shirts (no sports bras only), athletic shorts or pants (no jeans), cheer shoes and socks (no sandals or bare feet.) Long hair must be pulled back into a hair-tie ”up and out of their face’. There is to be NO JEWELRY worn at practices, this includes all earrings, belly button rings, and necklaces. This is not simply for appearance sake, but for the safety to the one wearing the jewelry and for those either flying or basing who might be injured as a result.
All cell phones should be turned OFF during practice times, NO EXCEPTIONS. Should parents need to get ahold of their child during practice times, please call the coach of that team. There is to be NO GUM whatsoever at practices or competitions. Stickers used during tanning sessions should be worn in an area not visible. We ask that you keep fingernails short for safety reasons. Athletes must be ready with shoes on and tied with hair up before practice time starts. Failure to do this will result in discipline at the coach’s discretion. Once again, our program is about building champions and teaching responsibility to our athletes. We are able to keep extra practices to a minimum, because our practices are productive and mandatory.

Royalty Athletix does have a ‘closed practice’ policy. This means that immediate and extended family members, boyfriends or girlfriends or friends who are not athletes are not allowed in the practice area while any team is practicing or tumbling. These individuals are required to stay in the Parent’s Lounge. We do provide video cameras that allow you to see your athlete during practices and tumbling. However, the last practice of the month immediate family are allowed to sit quietly and watch practice. Please abide by the cell phone policy above while in the practice are. We strongly encourage family members to view this policy as a positive. Your athletes work better when their focus is solely on the coaches. We also encourage you to join us for the last practice of the month to help support them. Royalty Athletix does reserve the right to change any ‘open’ practice to a ‘closed’ practice, should there be a need to. FUNdamentals is not subject to the ‘closed practice’ rule.

Summer Absence Policy
Athletes are allowed up to 4 absences for family vacations during the months of May-July. These absences may be in conjunction with any of the above listed summer breaks. Please plan accordingly. Additional absences may jeopardize an athlete’s placement on his/her respective teams.

Fall Absence policy
The only excused absences are school sport/graded functions. Absences are NOT allowed the weekend and week prior to a competition. An unexcused absence may result in the athlete being removed from an upcoming performance at the discretion of the staff. It is the responsibility of the athlete to learn any changes prior to practices. We will verify missed practices with school administration and the teaching staff. Athletes must be prepared to show documentation from a teacher or instructor for their absence. You may be removed if the request is falsified.

Sick Absence Policy
If an athlete is sick or absent, the team’s coach must be contacted as soon as possible.

We do not want your athlete to attend practice if they are contagious. If they do not have a fever they must attend practice. Athletes may be removed from our program for failing to follow this rule. They will not be required to participate, however; they must be present. An athlete will jeopardize their position if this rule is not followed. In addition, a doctor’s note with detailed information regarding the illness must be provided, if absences must continue. This includes dental, medical, and any other health related issue that would prohibit participation. Extended sickness such as Mono or Strep throat could jeopardize an athlete’s position on the team.

Injuries
In the event that an athlete is injured at home or during other extracurricular activities, we ask that you please notify your team's coach and the gym as soon as possible. We will make changes with choreography prior to practicing. We will re-choreograph routines based on the person’s injury and length of recovery. Once the individual has fully recovered, he or she may or may NOT be choreographed back into the routine. The coaches have complete discretion in replacing such individuals for the rest of the season.

Valuable information
Private lessons or “one on ones”  must be prepaid to your coach by check or cash. You must schedule those directly with the instructor. The weekly tumble class will be required for anyone who does not meet the necessary skill requirements for the level in which they're participating.  Tuition does not pay for the right to perform. Individuals must meet the level skill requirements.

We believe in perfection before progression. We will not allow athletes to learn advanced tumbling skills before perfecting their basics. If parents and/ or athletes are concerned about the progress of the cheerleader, a meeting with the coach and gym owner would be more than welcomed.  Only perfected skills will be choreographed in a Royalty Athletix routine! We ask that parents do not spot their children on Royalty Athletix property. Absolutely NO unsupervised tumbling or stunting! Royalty Athletix reserves the right to change a team’s division and level at any time throughout the year. Mandatory tumbling will be assigned as needed. Athletes can be moved to an alternate position if they do not maintain the skill requirements.

Gym Rental is available for Birthday Parties or other activities. $75 for RA Families - $120 for Non-RA Families for a 4 hour time frame for set up, party and clean up. Please visit www.royaltyatletix.com/facility-rentals for more information on dates and times available.
